This is a relatively new breed.  They are a hybrid from Felis Chaus, which is a Jungle Cat from Egypt, that lives in the Nile region.  This is how they came to have the name "Chausie'".  This cat was used by the Pharaohs to retrieve game.  They were also worshipped in other regions as a Goddess called Bastet.  The result of the outcrossing has given us a Feral appearing cat which exhibits the mystery and prowess of the Jungle Cat; with the loving gentle traits we have come to expect in our domestics.

Dontau of Bakhutan

Experimental Shorthair for use in Chausie program

This boy is a dream come true. Big, chunky, and with a sweet purrsonality, he has produced some awesome kittens for Bakhutan to date. Weighing in at twenty-seven plus pounds, he has given our kittens size, markings, and a great purrsonality that makes for that wonderful experience of being owned by a Chausie.

I am not breeding for showing at this time. My clients prefer the pronounced spotting and coat texture of the BG/CU/JC cross.

Bakhutan Ojbwah

Named in the Dakota language, Ojbwah means Hanging Clouds

Sire: Woodghost Pharoah’s Gold of Bakhutan

Dam: Wildkatz Niles Tiki of Bakhutan

An F2 Chausie, we call her Squeaky, because she has a tiny voice. There is however, NOTHING tiny about what she has brought to our program. Homegrown, a daughter out of one of my first Chausie queens, she continues to be the cornerstone of our CU program. Like her beloved dam, Tiki, she is a great mother, and passes on to her offspring, the traits most sought after by our clients. She will be bred again in the spring.

Le Ploma

Le Ploma is an awesome girl that is expecting, as you can see. We’ll be picking a female to add to our Chausie program here at Bakhutan. We’re very excited as she was bred to our very own big boy Dontau. Make sure to check back for pictures!

Bakhutan Moswentau

Fair Colored Lion

"Mosey" is a third generation Chausie. It is our hope that he’ll be fertile when he matures. Big and leggy, he is the epitome of the Chausie standard. Check back in late Spring, to see if our prayers were answered!
